19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hardcourt
A comeback the Russian player secured his maiden title for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The athlete, a former world number one, has had a difficult season, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a setback at the US Open.
The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in particular - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.
Now working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.
This marks his initial title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from spring of that year.
Success also means he has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one various competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to win a title is really nice," stated ranked player Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.
His defensive play style and regular outbursts on the tennis court had prompted observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.
Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and compete positively, reinforced by an better serve.
The champion fought back from a break down in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five points to go ahead.
The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his maiden professional championship, took control to create a third set.
He rescued four early chances in a close final set before the champion broke to fifteen to serve for the match.
Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
